The NEW Food Pyramid.
Well, it's an effort. One comment I read was something to the effect of, "it's good but is anyone going to pay attention?" If you didn't before, why would you now? Hop on over to GOOGLE , my friends & type in 'new food pyramid'. Bunches of articles. What do they want us to do...? OMG, 60 - 90 minutes of exercise EVERY DAY? AND shower? I AM making an effort to consume *9* servings of fruit & vegetables every day. I'm counting potatoes & corn which I'd previously tossed into the Atkin's carb bin. Now they need to count as vegetation. It's not easy getting 9 servings in every day. You try it & let me know any secrets. ;) My doctor cited a study where people who consumed 3 servings of lowfat dairy lost more weight. Don't tell my friends who subscribe to notmilk.com ! Does ice cream count? I GET the whole grains thing & can do that easily. Well, easily-ish. Hubby still longs for Atkins friendly meals. I like beans & grains - cheap, easy & filling. Fiber-icious. I'm rambling on about this because my doctor has made the following recomendations pending the results of my bloodwork: 60 - 90 mins exercise, 3 servings lowfat dairy, 9 servings fruit & veggies, & Weight Watchers. What a good Dr. to follow the USDA's advice. *sigh* I've failed at WW at least twice. I am NOT feeling optimistic about this bloodwork. My cholesterol has always been high. I doubt it's improved since my last checkup 2 yrs. ago. I need to drop at least 30 lbs, 40 would be ideal. My BMI is horrific. And I'm a slightly paranoid hypochondriac. Which is why I avoid the doctors. Except my neurologist - I visit him without fail & touch my finger to my nose. And get my refills. Enough gibberish. Have a great day everyone & stay healthy. ;)

You can do it
It's not as hard as you think, if you snack throughout the day. Don't forget to add nuts to your diet, unless your extremely allergic..LOL Salads and soups are a great way to get veggies and you can make so many different varieties boredom is hard to come by imo. Plus hubby can add his protein and have a friendly atkins meal. Atkins is nasty though if you ask me..lol I like fiber-icious meals too. Girl, right now I have over 300 vegetarian recipes in my email recipe folder, and you don't have to be a vegetarian to make them as you know..I think the exercise thing would be hard for me, not just cause I'm lazy but that's a lot, but does it have to be all at once? I hope you can keep with the changes..I dont' wanna see you struggle with the health issues due to cholsestrol..that sucks. Btw, servings aren't like mounds..so even if you pop some V-8's, have a few snack bags of raw veggies, salds with meals, and some soups you should be fine. Try to eat most of your fruit before noon. LOL to the notmilk.com.. I know all about that sight..Sorry to say I don't think ice cream counts though hon. GL

I get stressed just thinking about it. It is way too confusing. As for 60-90 minutes of exercise a day, that does include brisk walking or gardening, so that makes it more reasonable to me than if they were telling you you needed to spend 90 minutes in the gym a day. Why do you think that WW doesn't work for you? Is it Paul? Is he supportive and encouraging?
